Your data is encrypted on your device before it ever reaches us. The keys are derived from your password and are only ever stored in encrypted form we can't unlock — so no one at FamilyLockbox can read a single record, document, or contact. Zero-knowledge isn't a setting; it's the architecture.

AI that reads your documents, then forgets them
AI scanning is the one opt-in exception to end-to-end encryption: when you choose to scan a document, it's sent unencrypted for a single extraction, routed only to AI providers with zero-data-retention agreements, and then discarded. It's never stored by us, never retained by the AI provider, and never used to train any model — the only copy that remains is the encrypted file you choose to attach to your record.
